All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen under the guardianship of Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi has once again created History by fielding a Non-Muslim candidate in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Muralidhar Reddy, is glad to have got a ticket to contest the election after being in politics for 30 long years. As a Congress party member for over three decades, Reddy, at 49, would have possibly remained at peace with his real estate business and also the positions he held in the past like that of president of the Shamshabad Mandal Parishad. But this was before he heard about AIMIM looking for a Hindu candidate for Rajendranagar constituency.
A local of Jukal village in Shamshabad mandal, Reddy says he was among the 15-20 Hindu aspirants who had applied for a ticket to AIMIM. Clearly, AIMIM’s Muslim identity does not appear as an issue with Reddy as he talks about how he finally got his chance to contest for an assembly seat. “Congress is a big party and I wasn’t that big perhaps,” he says, adding that had AIMIM not given him the ticket he would have not had the chance to contest ever.
Political observers say that AIMIM has indeed made a calculated move. Of the 2.5 lakh voters from this constituency, 80,000 are from the minority community. There are an estimated 40,000 Reddys in the area. “The minority community members will vote for AIMIM and there will be considerable Hindu voting for Reddy,” an observer states.
There were apparently two strong contenders for this seat’s ticket. Muralidhar Reddy says he got the ticket after AIMIM conducted inquiries about him. His stature among locals and real estate business could have helped him have an edge over the other contenders, say observers.
But Reddy, an Osmania University graduate, would like to attribute his selection also to his long political experience. “I have been in politics for long. I was a student leader and held important positions during my college days,” he says, adding that he is hopeful of a comfortable win.

Assalamalikum,
Now MIM Has answered all its critics who use to call it a communal party.This move by MIM is very calculated keeping in view the current political situation of india,now muslims should have their own national party in order to do that MIM should take other communities into its folds because it cant go to the national level politics with only support of muslims and we should not forget that india is a democratic country,till now MIM has done a lot for muslims of hyderabad and now they should think about muslims of other states who dont have proper representation.
May Allah give all the members of AIMIM Victory in coming elections.

wow its nice to hear mim has fielded a non muslim candidate….they always blame other muslims and now they fielded a hindu candidate and calling themselves as secular.
MIM’s fielding a non-Muslim candidate in assembly elections is not new. The party created this history in 1989 itself when a majority of 35 candidates that the party fieled from various seats, majority of them were Muslims.
The publisher of this news on this website should be ashamed as he himself is not aware of the MIM’s history.
@hyderabadi muslim,
You are a bit hasty in criticizing the publisher of this report. I don’t find any contradiction citing historical the nomination of a non-muslim.
The post does not say this is the first time that MIM fielding a candidate from other community.
It is historical in a sense since new political aspirants from muslim community alleging MIM of being communal that is why they are siding with CPM and Telugu desam etc., in this background to shut their mouth fielding a non-muslim candidate makes a history. For calling it a historical decision does not call for a publisher to be blamed of ignorant of history. But it is one more feather in the crown of MIM’s history. no offense.
